I’ve talked a lot about how much I hate the wait associated with Dell’s more popular models but the there is one other thing that just makes me crazy when dealing with a Dell order and that is getting the tracking number. Of the two computers I’ve ordered over the past six months both have lacked tracking number for the first half of their respective trips to my doorstep.
I realize that having a tracking number doesn’t have anything to do with when I get my computer but I LOVE having a tracking number. I can check in on things and see where my computer is. As it gets closer I get more and more excited.
I’m not sure why Dell has this problem. I can’t think of a single online retailer that doesn’t provide a tracking number PRIOR the the package leaving their custody. Can anyone explain this?
A while back I tried to order an m1330 but the shipping time was just to long for me. I think one of the challenges Dell still faces is getting their popular products through production faster. Anyway, so I ordered an m1330 that was “Previously Ordered New,” which I understand as a computer that someone ordered then returned. Hopefully I’m right. So the great thing about purchasing from the Dell outlet is that the ship time is practically instantaneous.
I realize the BTO system is what made Dell what it is today but I often wonder if that business model isn’t causing Dell a lot of their current problems. Anyway, I’m really excited to get the new laptop.

in latitude.

Not a ton of details just yet but the Latitude line is going to be in serious demand once these hit the streets.
I’m eagerly awaiting my new Dell laptop which means I’ve been reading everything I can about the M1330 and looking for pictures of what will soon be mine. I’ve noticed that on websites like Flickr there are very few pictures featuring the M1330. I went ahead and searched for some other Dell products and was surprised to find that overall, Dell is pretty under represented on Flickr.

The same goes for Digg. If you search for Dell stories on Digg you will find that the 8 of the 10 stories are negative. Now I’ll admit this is as unscientific as it gets but why aren’t Dell users more vocal (outside of IdeaStorm…sort of ironic, I know).
Anyone have thoughts on this?

in phone.
Gizmodo is reporting that Dell and Google may be announcing a mobile device as early as next week. This could be really great news as my WM6 phone is making me crazy.
How long should an order’s status be “PENDING”?
My guess is that it has something to do with the fact that it is one of the new Product (RED) machines. But I’m just wondering how long should this take?

A few weeks ago we started hearing rumblings that Dell would be releasing some (RED) products. Despite some bad press, I’m a big fan of the (RED) campaign. After some deliberation I decided to order a (RED) Dell m1330 (or is it a Dell 1330 (RED)?). Hopefully I’ll have it soon. This is my first order from Dell in about a year so it should be interesting to see how quickly I get my new laptop. Ohh how I love new hardware!
You’ve gotta love the FCC. Not only do they ruin product launches they post pictures! Engadget got a hold of the pictures and try to stop yourself from being totally excited about this all in one machine! Dell has gaining some massive design skills!!

I could be off here but it looks like the screen is about 20 inches. Any guesses?

Dell is taking the XPS line where it has never ventured before. For the first time you will be able to get a XPS laptop for less then $1500. This is probably a good move on Dell’s part. The XPS line is pretty much established as the best consumer computers there are. I do worry that as the XPS line is expanded the computers might lose their premium appeal. These specs make me think I’m worrying over nothing.
